  • Tim made the motion to accept. Greg 2nd it.
  • Ole asked that when we pull the harvester out early September that we get all the financial information to the LID by 9/15 because the LID will be meeting in October.

Secretary Report:

  • Motion made to accept with a few minor changes.
  • Tim made the motion and 2nd by John M.

Water Quality Report:

  • Slow start to the season, until the middle of July.
  • Have mattress weed back again.  Hard to remove with the harvester because it tears verses cutting it.  It also hangs up on the conveyor belt of the harvester.
  • Few issues with the harvester.  Added a hydraulic pump.
  • Replaced conveyor #1
  • New truck driver that is catching on.
  • Load count:  40 verses historically 80 at this time of the year.

Weir’s Damn:

  • We have a grant to help pay for this.  Its’ a collaborative initiative between the DNR and Fisheries, Aitkin County water and soil, LID, Sportsman Club and LMA.

Loon Nesting Report:

  • High water and windy spring made for a difficult nesting season.
  • Haven’t seen babies on the lake.  One sighting on the NW side of the lake and based on the size of the baby it may have been from a 2nd nesting.
  • Greg has ordered additional buoys.
  • Greg has asked for a quote for an additional platform bringing up our platforms to 4.
  • Was about $650 when we had them made before and are estimating that it will be closer to $950.
  • Also looking to add a cellular game camera to platforms.
  • Looking to have wood duck boxes for the kids to make.  Could be for next year’s BBQ kids’ activity or for the local kid’s summer program.

Memberships:

  • Have many new business members
  • How do we get the business recognized on the website?
  • We will need to manually enter.  Terryl, Robbie and Beth to follow.
  • Have about 118 individual memberships to date.
  • Will offer the new membership deal of a flag and membership for $50 at the BBQ.
  • We still need to get alignment on the county list and our website.

Old Business:

  • BBQ – Next Saturday!!
  • Check list has been sent out.  If you have changes or suggestions, let Beth know.
  • Will need some additional people for set up.  Will need to put up the big red tent because the Bann’s tent that we normally use for the silent auction has been trashed.
  • Kid’s Fishing Day – Turned out great for kids and volunteers.
  • Need to tweak it a little for next year.  More time to fish and maybe a breakfast/brunch for the everyone before going fishing.
  • BASS Nation (high school) fishing contest:
  • 4th visit to Minnewawa in 6 years.
  • Had 30 boats this year.  Was too many for the boat launch so they parked on the county road and was a hazard.
  • There were other rules that are part of the contest that were not followed.  Releasing the fish was an issue (were supposed to release across the lake, but all were unloaded at the launch)
  • 108 fish were caught and 107 were released.
  • Kid’s T-shirt give away.  280 shirts given away.  Would like to see if we could get these shirts done during the winter instead of stressing if they would be done in time or not.
  • Financially it would be better if we could get it done and have it be part of this year’s numbers.
  • LMA Merchandise:
  • Full zip jackets (new item) have been very popular and have already reorder.
  • Ready for the BBQ.
  • Have already sold $1600 worth of merchandise.

  • AIS / boat launch inspection
  • Things have slowed down since 4th of July
  • Folks have been very cooperative and know the process, so it has been going very well.
  • The wash station is back up and running.
  • So far, we continue to avoid AIS

New Business:

  • LMLID has a new president, Bruce Patterson
  • LMA information
  • How do we get new LMA information to new cabin owners
  • Could we do a “welcome to the Lake kit”

Meeting was adjourned at 11:49

John made the motion and Beth 2nd it.
