Meeting Called to order:  9:04 AM


Treasurer’s Report:

  • Expenses/Receivables:
  • Welcome Nikki Johnson (will be taking over from Robbie) effective immediately.
  • Thank you, Robbie, for all your help and hard work up to this point.
  • Account Balances:  payables and account balances
    • Total:  $92,355.07
      • Checking:  $3,245.41
      • MM:   $76,239.20
      • Receivables:  $13,470.46
  • LID reimbursements: 
    • Wier’s Dams:  $8,645.00
    • 2022 End of season expenses:  $2,444.40
  • Sportsman Club – needs to reimburse LMA for Weir’s Dam portion of project.
  • Budget for year will be done for next meeting.
  • Is it possible to get another debit card?
  • Beth Motion Made to accept the report, 2nd by Tim.


Secretary Report:

  • Motion made to accept with a few minor changes.
  • John M made the motion and 2nd by Terryl, with the agreement to revisit the kid’s t-shirt and business names on them.


Water Quality Report:

  • We do have a truck driver, Tommy Wheeler
  • Chris is back to operate the harvester again.
  • The maintenance was done last year, so good to go.  Need 2 new batteries for the harvester, approximately $300.
  • Looking to upgrade the winch for pulling the harvester.  Currently it is battery operated, but looking to tie into the hydraulic system, will cost about $1000.
  • Tabs and permits all taken care of.
  • Looking to put the harvester into the lake on June 10th.
  • Will be operating days a week, with Fridays being a half day.
  • The person (Mary Ellen) who has been doing our payroll is retiring.  We will need to find a new person/company to do it.  Need to have options locked down by Memorial Weekend (May 26th) to have first paychecks by Mid-June.

Business Membership:

  • Business letter is done.
  • All the envelopes have been addressed and stamped.
  • Need 100 copies of the letter and business membership form.

  • Community Printing - Cloquet

Loon Nesting:

  • The platforms are already out.  Jerry from Willey’s helps us place them on the lake.  It took about an hour and 15 minutes to get into the water.
  • We have 4 platforms on the lake.
  • Fire Tower Bay
  • Bann’s bay
  • Sportsman Bay – a little further out from shore
  • North shore by the channel to Horseshoe.
  • Greg has a few more anchors and ropes/chains to secure the platforms.
  • There are buoys for all the platforms and netting.
  • We keep learning and trying in different locations.  It will take several years for the loons to adapt to the platforms.

 

LMA Apparel:

  • Aitkin T-shirts is not responding to emails.
  • Will be checking out Community Printing from Cloquet
  • Sue and Arlyss will be taking some sample clothing.
  • Decision made to keep the Kid’s t-shirt without any sponsor’s names on them.  It is sponsored by the LMA only.

 

Weir’s Dam (Fish Ladder):

  • IS COMPLETED!!!!!
  • All payments have been made.
  • Sue will contact Janet S. from Aitkin County to see what else do they need from us.
  • Drone shots are on our Facebook page.  Please do not drive back there to look at the site.  It is private property.


Kid’s Fishing Day:

  • June 26th – 2 sessions, Lunch, tee shirts
  • 6 pontoons signed up again.
  • 1st session – 9-11
  • Lunch
  • 2nd session – 12-2


AIS Grants Update:

  • All grants are up to date.

AIS Placemats/Coaster:

  • Melissa has taken over the placemats.
  • They are being printed by Gabe and should be done this week.
  • Sue W. to check on coasters to see how we are sitting for inventories.

SCAP testing:

  • Haven’t heard anything yet.
  • Water temperature related.
  • Greg to send a note to DNR to get an update.

LMLID reimbursements:

  • Tim and Sue will be attending the LID meeting this Friday at 10:00

 

Memorials:

  • Doc Borg Service – July 22nd  @ 2:00 PM
  • The board is invited to the memorial service.  As it gets closer, we will get more details.


Old Business:

Lake Survey 2023:

  • Late summer, but everything is set up and ready to go.


New Business:

  • Website – Robbie will be taking over the website and membership entries.
  • We are on the DNR schedule to stock walleyes again this year.  Timing depends on the spawning and when they can harvest the frys.  Guessing 2-3 weeks in May.
